FAQS

Hoover Rules
Be kind - Be Responsible - Be Respectful - Be Courageous

Attendance

We all have difficult mornings now and again. However, habitual tardiness creates undue stress for your child and disrupts classroom routines. If your child arrives after the hall door closes, please:

1.Check in at the front office for a tardy slip.

2.Our school secretary, Mrs. Uhrich will walk your student to class.

Food

Please send a healthy snack with your student at recess (even if they are purchasing a hot lunch). A Snack Bin sits in our hallway each morning so students can separate their snack from their lunch. Remind your student to avoid sharing food since we do have food allergies in our classroom.
Clothing
We are active athletes and creative artists. Ensure your child wears safe, comfortable, and reasonable clothing for active play and art projects. Mrs. Uhrich keeps our Lost & Found bin in front of the school office. I will place unmarked items in our Snack Bin.
Birthdays
Birthday Ceremony-

We set out our sun with candle first thing on a birthday morning and the birthday student carries a little globe around the sun for each year of life. While the student walks, the family shares a special anecdote for each year of life. Anecdotes may include trips, silly things students would say, important things that happened, anything special from each year. Pictures to share are welcome too! Families are also welcome to read their Birthday Book if desired. Here is a simple video to give a sense of the celebration. I am also happy to read anecdotes and birthday books on behalf of families.

Book Donations- Hoover kindergarten wishes to honor your student’s birthday through Birthday Book Donations to our new school library. If your student would like to participate by donating a new hardcover copy of their favorite picture book, we will add a special book plate on the inside cover of the new book acknowledging your student’s birthday donation. Your child will also receive a special thank you note and birthday treat on their birthday. We will read the book as a class before delivering the book to Mr. Navarro. Feel free to contact me with any questions, for book recommendations, or if I can provide a book donation on your student’s behalf.
Treats- We welcome small school related gifts for the class (i.e. pencils, crayons, art supplies, magnets, etc.), but ask that you do not bring edible treats.
Birthday invitations MUST go home by mail instead of distribution at school.
